The 2010-2011 Project on Industrial Waste E-Management Integration and Decision Support

Absrtact
The project consisted of four main strands: 1. Reviewing and developing industrial waste control strategies and relevant notices; 2. Providing statistical data analysis support for managerial agencies; 3. Improving the Industrial Waste Control Center Report System (IWRS); and 4. Ensuring information publication and normal system operation maintenance. The first part of the project included the evaluation of the generators of spent lubricant, the adjustments of submitting procedure for monthly reports by executive agencies, the design of the reuse flow checking mechanism, and the development of the reused product registration system. Besides, three guidance’s including “Industries Required to Submit Industrial Waste Cleanup Plans” have been amended and formulated. In providing support to the statistical data analysis, statistical reports and analyses regarding important control items such as EAF dust, sludge, industrial waste incineration bottom ash and recycled resources were submitted regularly to managerial agencies in terms of city/county, declared category, and cleanup method. The functions to produce report forms have been developed for the control items of infectious industrial waste, dead livestock, and waste developer/fixer solutions. For IWRS improvement, additional geographic information system functions and layer expansion have been made possible based on all kinds of industrial waste declaration data. Target group navigation has been introduced into IWRS to improve the overall service quality. Integration of six websites for dry battery import/export and general waste has also been completed. For the fourth part of the project, maintenance was performed on a regular basis to ensure normal system operation. Relevant system functions have been modified to go along with the Environmental Permit Processing and Integration Plans. Virtual server consolidation testing has been completed for the Department of Environmental Monitoring & Information Management.
